VirusP 0 Posted November 11, 2002 I am trying to back up data of Win2k server using HP SureStore 24 backup hardware. Although the HP supports 24x tapes, i can't use the hardware compression feature, even while using Verita software. I enabled the hardware compression within the Win2k and the backup hardware, but it doesn't seem to work at all Does anyone know if it is just - another - Win2k server bug? Thanks in advance ;( Share this post Link to post
DosFreak 2 Posted November 11, 2002 Did you try Backup Exc v8.6? I've had problems with the stripped-down backup exec included in NT OS'S (NTBACKUP) and hardware compression. Using the REAL Backup Exec fixed it for me every time. I'd say it's possibly a hardware problem. I'm not familiar with that Tape Hardware so it possibly doesn't support hardware compression...I seriously doubt that tho. Share this post Link to post
VirusP 0 Posted November 11, 2002 I used Verita'as BackUp Exec, but it could only compress the data using its software compression feature, not the hardware one within Win2k Added to this, according to the official HP manual the specific tape drive does support hardware compression 2*1. P.S. Thanks for the reply! Share this post Link to post
