Toby 0 Posted August 3, 2002 yes it works fine If you got ICS set up on XP, just configure your Linux box to use DHCP and your done. /Toby Share this post Link to post
dilligaf1701 0 Posted August 8, 2002 This may sound silly - but what about the reverse. I want to use Mandrake 8.2 as a Router Box..... I have two Windows XP machines. I must be honest I have no experience of Linux :-( It installs ok on the router machine - I can go on the internet and everything just fine... But the other ethernet card is disabled. I've swapped the cables over to see if the card works in linux and it's ok - so it's gotta be a settin in windows OR linux that I don't get. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. If you need to ask any questions please do. Dilligaf Share this post Link to post
punkisdead 0 Posted August 16, 2002 You would have better luck using the Linux box as the router, not only for security reasons but configurability. I found a site that detailed how to setup a DHCP server on Red Hat, which is not much different than Mandrake. It only took about 15 minutes, I also believe that there is a selection during install to set up your linux box as a router. If you need help let me know. Share this post Link to post
