kodak DC290 compatablity to windows XP

... to connect a Kodak DC290 zoom camera to windows XP..do i use serial port or USB?.The camera is serial hook up unless there is an adapter for the cable.One thing i read says that it only able to be connected through serial while another site tells me that it is only connected through USB....HELP PLEASE....very confused...
