pr-man 1 Posted December 17, 2002 ok guys I need help because the way I have it setup now is not running well at all and is causing cd burning problems. ok I have a Epox 8K7A mobo. 1 cd-rw drive, 1 dvd-rom drive, 1 80 gig primary HD and one 45 gig storage HD and 1 promise Ultra100tx2 controller card Ihave the 80HD on mobo IDE1 as master I have CD-rw on mobo IDE2 as master I have 45 gig on promise card IDE1 as master I have dvd-rom on promise card IDE2 Any ideas for a better setup? Newumbrella 0 Posted December 18, 2002 Hey, u know IDE controller card (highpoint, promise,....) don't really support ATAPI devices so my recommanded setup was to connect all cdroms to mb IDE controllers. Here's the recommended setup: mb IDE1: DVD-ROM mb IDE2: CD-RW promise IDE1:80GB promise IDE2:45GB Remember to set all device as master~~ And as always update to the latest BIOS and chipset driver~~ Also remember to get the most recent version of whatever cd burning program u're using~~ Share this post Link to post

Only possible change would be to have the CD-RW as IDE1 and the DVD-ROM as IDE2, but that's just a matter of preferance. Newumbrella is absolutely correct that not all PCI add-in cards fully support ATAPI. - Adam Share this post Link to post
