LaTe_Show 0 Posted December 22, 1999 When I try to execute a game using hw acceleration, windows keeps on giving me an odd "error" message (a small box actually saying ERROR)... direct3d works fine (suprise suprise)... Help! Share this post Link to post
Igor 0 Posted December 22, 1999 What buid u have? WHat drivers for ya carx are u using? If u haven't updated the drivers from either http://win2kbox.8m.com/ or http://seldzar.dhs.org/ then DON'T post any more messages. Share this post Link to post
LaTe_Show 0 Posted December 22, 1999 Well excuse me, yes I HAVE updated the drivers from one of those sites... I'm on the 2195.3 (final retail build)... Share this post Link to post
Seldzar 0 Posted December 22, 1999 First off did you mention you had updated your drivers in the first post? no. Did you mention what build you were using? no. Did you mention what games your trying to play? NO. As well, as far as I know Direct3d IS considered hardware acceleration. If d3d is working and glide or opengl isn't then the drivers aren't installed properly. You must confirm the overwriting of the old voodoo3.dll and voodoo3.sys. Also you shoud edit the ini file for the drivers to adjsut your clock speed for your card. Share this post Link to post
LaTe_Show 0 Posted December 23, 1999 I guess we got off on the wrong foot... I admit the original post is a bit "undescriptive"... Let's take it from the top: I have Windows 2000 (final retail blaablaa), and I have a Voodoo 3 2000 card. The problem is that, even after installing the hacked drivers, direct3d is buggered. For example, if you go to Display Properties->Advanced->3dfx Voodoo 3, you can see that the options Glide and Desktop are "available", but DirectX is blurred... Quake III works fine (of course), but any other game that requires dx3d is buggered. For example in Rally Championship it only give you the "software display" options. What makes this interesting is that if I run dxdiag, it says that everything is ok, (yes, I can see the spinning cube)... I hope this post clarified my problem. So yeah, and Kiss Ass X-Mas to all of you! -LaTe Share this post Link to post
Igor 0 Posted December 23, 1999 As u just said.. the drivers ARE not FINAL. That is whay D3D is greyed out. But it should still work. I tryed Unreal Tournament and a few other games and they all work. Just remebem that some game might requare a fix to work under NT in general or they don't work well at all. webview 0 Posted December 31, 1999 When you say build 2195.3 what does that mean? I get the builds from MSDN and my "System" version in control panel says 2195. Is this not the last one? Share this post Link to post
