Aravi Nemiji 0 Posted February 12, 2003 RIS installation fails in text mode due to network driver being unavailable. Already read the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles 246184 - How to add third party OEM network adapters to RIS installations 254078 - How to add OEM Plug and Play Drivers to Windows Installations RIS Server runs 2k Server RIS Clients will run 2k pro All .inf and .sys files have been copied into the i386 folders (default and for this image) as well as intelnic.dll (which Intels site suggests). Image has networking drivers set up (and correctly re-installs them after being rebooted by riprep, so the drivers there are fine). Anyone got a detailed howto for setting up the drivers for the text mode portion of the install? Share this post Link to post

Other than that.... 1. Have you tried the bootdisks for RIS? 2. Does your DHCP hand out IPs for BOOTP? 3. Do your switches forward DHCP/BOOTP requests? 4. Event log on the RIS server? 5. RIS server is authorized? 6. What PXE version does your NIC support? HTH Share this post Link to post
duhmez 0 Posted February 13, 2003 Do your nics support Bootp. If not you will need to make client disks to boot the macines. And the list of supported nics is quite small too. Whipping out your own dos driver/ris boot disk should be fun. If you figure out how, give us a buzz! best thing for ris really, if youre gona do it right, just get suported nics right from the getgo. And if not bootp, that's fine too, just supported so win2k will make your client boot disks fo ryou. Share this post Link to post
