tpe 0 Posted February 12, 2003 Has anyone any experience in going from XP to 2k? At a guess this means a total reformat (regretably) is needed? CyberGenX 0 Posted February 12, 2003 I have downgraded (I call it an upgrade) from XP Pro to 2000 Pro. I had two drives, formatted the one used for 2000 in XP. No problems with NTFS. Yes you will have to reformat ... uless you can simply delete everything on the drive (usually not). Remember to backup: Email and address book Favorites My Documents and any special folders you've created. Share this post Link to post
tuneS 0 Posted February 13, 2003 I was told that the upgrade from Win2k Pro to WinXP Pro could not be undone just like in Win9x. I did the upgrade myself and confirmed this issue. As a result, to downgrade Windows with NTFS partitions, you have to let the Win2k setup format the partition where Windows is installed in order not to leave any superfluous files on the partition (you may instead use Partition Magic or another utility to set up the partitions).
