Moxxx 0 Posted February 25, 2003 I try to install C&C Generals, but when it is "configuring windows installer" it gives error 1608: "unable to create installdriver instance". I have windows 2000 and at the moment no service packs installed. I also tried with service pack 1 and 3 but same problem. Could someone tell me what to do?? Share this post Link to post
adamvjackson 0 Posted February 26, 2003 You could try installing the Windows Installer 2.0 update, but that is included in SP3. Are you trying to install with Administrator rights? Share this post Link to post

When I downloaded Windows Installer 2.0 and started to install it said that it already exists on my computer.. And this has only one account which has administrator rights so it shouldn't be the problem. Share this post Link to post
akiss 0 Posted February 26, 2003 No problem with me to install it.but i have sp3 installed... So i think that you need to install sp3 Also try to run msicuu.exe from microsoft web site and then reinstall windows installer.The msicuu.exe is the clean up program for windows installer.
