oliverf 0 Posted March 5, 2003 Hi all, Anyone know if you can upgrade from NT to XP Home Edition? I need to upgrade but don't want to shell out the additional $200 for the Professional Edition. Thanks, oliverf Share this post Link to post
duhmez 0 Posted March 5, 2003 Workstation only upgrades to XP Pro as per the MS article here http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=292607 Share this post Link to post
adamvjackson 0 Posted March 5, 2003 The price difference between the upgrade XP Home and XP Pro editions should be about US $100, not $200. The FPP (Full Packaged Product) XP Professional is only $299. Share this post Link to post
oliverf 0 Posted March 6, 2003 Well, canadian it's 150 vs 300. So that's about double. Thanks for your replies. What about a clean install using Home edition? Share this post Link to post
adamvjackson 0 Posted March 6, 2003 That should work just fine, provided that you do not need the features in the Professional version. Share this post Link to post
DS3Circuit 0 Posted March 6, 2003 I would check the HCL for winxp and your machine. The hardware requirements between NT and XP are rather substantial and you would most certainly want the most bang for your buck. IE NT workstation supports 2 physical cpu and XP Home doesnt .... just figured I would bring this up. Share this post Link to post
