albert1967 0 Posted March 6, 2003 Hi, I'm working a few month with W2000 prof. now. My start was not to good so my basic config of 2000 is a mess at the moment. What i want: 1. I want a clean set up of Win 2000 and start all over again. (is it possible to have a shadow version running) So I can leave my current version as it is to and will not risque loss of data and settings An other possibilty is a dual boot with XP. Is this possible if it is how can I do this. (because of the kids and some games) THANKS A LOT Albert DISKSTRUCTURE System Information report written at: 03/06/2003 03:34:28 PM [Drives] Item Value Drive A: Description 3 1/2 Inch Floppy Drive Drive C: Description Local Fixed Disk Compressed False File System FAT Size 2.00 GB (2,146,467,840 bytes) Free Space 1.15 GB (1,234,436,096 bytes) Drive D: Description Local Fixed Disk Compressed False File System NTFS Size 5.86 GB (6,292,303,872 bytes) Free Space 2.28 GB (2,447,007,744 bytes) Drive E: Description Local Fixed Disk Compressed False File System NTFS Size 19.84 GB (21,301,313,536 bytes) Free Space 6.75 GB (7,243,902,976 bytes) Drive F: Description Local Fixed Disk Compressed False File System FAT32 Size 998.13 MB (1,046,609,920 bytes) Drive G: Description Local Fixed Disk Compressed False File System NTFS Size 7.81 GB (8,388,591,616 bytes) Free Space 4.14 GB (4,450,476,032 bytes) Operating System System Model Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2195) No details available Logins Network Drives HOMEDOMAIN\Administrator HOMEDOMAIN\my wife HOMEDOMAIN\myself HOMEDOMAIN\myself 2 HOMEDOMAIN\daughter E HOMEDOMAIN\son I Installed Microsoft Hotfixes Printers DataAccess Q318203 (details...) on 01/02/03 Q329414-25 (details...) on 01/02/03 Internet Explorer Q810847 (details...) Tomay 0 Posted March 7, 2003 I have dual booting XP's and I'm sure it can be done with w2000 too. Just install a fresh copy of w2000 on a partition that has no operating systems on it. You will then have 2 windows 2000 in your boot menu, but you can edit the boot.ini and rename that. My case: 2x maxtor 40GB Disk1 C: 10GB Primary XP F: 28GB Secondary XP Disk2 E: 2GB windows Me G: 36GB D: Cdrom H: Cdrw I could install another copy of xp's or windows 2000 on the G: partition. BTW all partitions are FAT32. I would advise you not to istall on the same partition where you allready have windows2000 instead use any other free partition. Share this post Link to post
