Power down hdd using Windows 2000 Server?

Is it possible to allow harddrives to power down under windows 2000 server? I cannot find the icon in the control panel. I've searched the web for answers but found not much. Can it be done with using the BIOS to force windows, if windows 2000 server does not allow it?

IIRC, it depends on if the mobo supports APM/ACPI. Does it?

I believe features such as these are part of OEM server / workstation software. If I am correct, it runs under the same principle of turning On and Off a PCI slot ... the hardware and software must be configured/built for this.

The motherboard is a MSI new board.

And yes, it supports all of the modern power savings.

 

I used to have Windows 2000 Pro on the computer earlier. Now though when Windows 2000 Server is installed the harddrive wont spinn down because there is no power manager available within Windows anymore.

 

Or so it seems. What gives really? What can be done to enable power savings?

 

My windows 2000 server cd is not an OEM version it is retail version, if that matters, i do not know.
