radx 0 Posted January 7, 2000 Hi folks, and first off i'd like to say thank you the operators of this forums, you guys are great!! And onto my question, I've got a a system runin 2195 and i have a few harddrives and i'm like you guys, i like to use the best of the best that you currently have, so my question is just, which one of these drives should i use to boot my os on: IDE: IBM-DPTA-371360 (7200 rpm, gives about 21meg / sec, but high seek time, like 9ms) 13,6GB SCSI: IBMAS400 DCHS09W (7200rpm, gives about 16,2meg / sec, but low seek time, like 7-8ms) 9GB I'm not sure what could be best for win2k.. I know i may look stupied here, but i can't help it, i'm still not sure which drive to use. Thanks Share this post Link to post
Arkos Reed 0 Posted January 8, 2000 There's no choice () SCSI Drives, even if they have a lower peak transfer rate, always perform better, because they can sustain this rate all the time, opposite to IDE drives who have irregular transfer rates (burst). My workstation uses two IBM DDRS-39130 UW-SCSI-2 7200 rpm 9.1Gb hard drives, they perform *much* better than my other puter's IBM DJNA-371350 7200 rpm 13.5Gb HD. ------------------ -=[Reed]=- Share this post Link to post
