CUViper 0 Posted April 17, 2003 That charger is pretty sweet - I would like to see it for real. It's weird, but I always have to wait on my judgement of a car until I see it myself. Some cars that looked beautiful in photos I ended up hating, and others that were so-so become awesome when viewed in person. Anyways, I like the futuristic car style too. Did you see the Honda DualNote showcased a few years back? The coolest part about this car is that it's got a 400HP V6, and it still gets 40 mpg!! How, do you ask? This baby is the future of hybrid cars - the gas engine powers the rear wheels with the help of an electric motor, and then there are also electric motors for each of the front wheels. So it's also AWD. Now, I'm pretty sure that Honda doesn't have any real plans to bring this into production. But the technology is still there, and it could start cropping up in their other products. Rumor has it that the NSX will be the first to receive this high-performance hybrid upgrade... After a little more research, I found that Honda showed the DualNote as the Acura DN-X in the US. Check the link for a ton of pics... Share this post Link to post
Bursar 0 Posted April 17, 2003 The Hondas cockpit looks very sweet. Maybe bit cramped though? It looks like once you're in the drivers seat, you aren't going to be able to move about very much. Those consoles seem to come in awfully close. But hey, it's a concept car, so it's not like they're gonna be hitting the showroom any time soon Share this post Link to post
Jasbo 0 Posted April 17, 2003 I thought McQueen drove a Mustang in "Bullit".... ? Share this post Link to post
Jerry Atrik 0 Posted April 17, 2003 that charger is completely badass a 500 horse v10 outta go nicely with that... i might even have to buy one Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted April 17, 2003 All it needs is a rebel flag on it, an "01" on the side, a couple of rednecks, and a chick with exceptionally short shorts and you could make a whole TV series around it. So, do you think DaimlerChrysler would be pi$$ed if we put in a roll cage and welded the doors shut? Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted April 17, 2003 Quote: Quote: I thought McQueen drove a Mustang in "Bullit".... ? Nope, 'twas a Charger... much like the one in "The Fast & the Furious" in fact!http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/rmx/rmx863366.htm * APK Actually, Jasbo is correct. From the article that you linked to... Quote: Steve McQueen, one of the greatest cult movie heroes of all time, was also something of a car enthusiast in his off-screen life. Being an avid car collector and race car driver, it was only natural that the movies he made reflected his love of anything automotive. One of his most famous films "Bullitt" features a wild, roller coaster chase scene through the streets of San Francisco, with Steve in his '68 Mustang and the bad guys in their '68 Dodge Charger. The scene is probably the first major car chase ever used in a feature film and every movie car chase that has followed over the years owes its allegiance to Steve McQueen for making it happen. clutch 1 Posted April 17, 2003 He drove the Mustang, not the Charger. http://people.freenet.de/pony/bullit.htm http://www.carmemories.com/cmem/Ford/Mustang/Bullitt+Mustang Note how McQueen and the Mustang are seen together, yet McQueen and the Charger are only together in a pic of a chase scene. Jerry Atrik 0 Posted April 19, 2003 Quote: Cool, I was not aware of that & figured a whole 23 cu. in. diff. from 360 motors would still be smallblock motor... live & learn! it's the config of the block itself. not so much the displacement. chrysler also made a 400 small block. which was no more than the 273/318/340/360 thick walled casting bored all to hell and a 2 foot stroke. it turned out to be unreliable and they stopped making it. to my rememberance the 383 was the smallest of the mopar big blocks. the 383/426/454 all used the same casting. (more useless trivia) ps. btw a quick check between the mopar big/small block the small block has the distributer in the back straight up and the big block has the dist. in the front at about 45deg. clutch 1 Posted April 19, 2003 Bummer. You mentioned you have a radar detector, so what do you have? I have an Escort Passport 8500 that I bought for my Impreza, and I have the fixed-mount smart cord that I installed and mounted the mute/LED display next to my cup holder above the radio. http://www.escortradar.com/8500.htm Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted April 20, 2003 You will have X, K, and Ka for radar and general Laser (lidar) support in most current models. The largest percentage of guns in use are K band based, while many are going to Ka. Laser is being adopted mostly by highway patrols, and has totally replaced all other speed detection (otherwise known as "revenue generating") devices in Hawaii. With radar, you are not allowed to jam it actively (and passive ones do not work, regardless of the gaurantees) by FCC jurisdiction in the US, while laser is controlled by the FDA is legally permitted to be jammed/shifted in almost all states in the US.
