CODEC HELP!!!!

Recommended Posts

i guess this could be considered a configuration tweak

but anyway,

i used to have windows me installed.

i could play mpeg2 video files.

i did not have any dvd software installed either.

what i had installed was real player, media player, divx, quick time.

and pretty much any movie file i wanted to play worked

now i have 2k and no mpeg2 files work.

i think i have the same stuff installed too.

is there any way to fix this?

As far as I know the only way to play mpeg2 is with additional commercial software like a dvd playing program. There are numerous free ones. There's a thread on the forums specifically about that, just do a search.

But I did find a shareware dedicated mpeg2 player here:

http://www.elecard.com/products/mpeg2player.shtml

It's not free, and I don't know the cost, but it's there.

I have 2K and can play MPEG2 files just fine, i have no DVD ROM or DVD software installed either. Of course i do have Adobe Premiere installed and a capture card that can create MPEG2 files.

well i know that quicktime plays mpeg2

but it sukz for the most part

i prefer nicemc for winamp2

or media player

i have seen on several websites stuff about playing mpeg2/vcds

in media player but i'm not really sure about what theyre talking about.

anyway, ive reinstalled windows a couple times now, as well as my other software and it sort of works now

aka-works, but not like it used to.

i know this topic has been cold for a while now, but for anyone with similar problems i would advise the "ACEmegaCodecsPack", or if you cant find it, the "Nimo" codec pack v9. The betas are all fine on my machine.

I get video files from loads of different places, but the ACE one is the only ive seen that does absolutely everything, both vid and sound. It weighs in at 33meg mind. These should both be easy to find by using the links from DivXDigest. Dont forget to uninstall any previous codecs 1st, else they tend to misbehave wink
