Lotus 0 Posted May 15, 2003 We just got cable setup at our 2 sister companies and now want to be able to access the shared drive at one company from the other. How do I go about doing this? We have static IP's also. Share this post Link to post
Lotus 0 Posted May 15, 2003 Would setting up a VPN through Win2K Pro "Make New Connection" work for me? If so, is it a hard process? Never done it =)) Share this post Link to post
Lotus 0 Posted May 15, 2003 *gulp* Is there any basic way to allow one company to access a shared drive at another company. Each company has a linksys router and Terayon cable modem. Is there something I need to setup within the router to allow incoming connections? Don't mean to be a pain, I just need to get it done today or tomorrow. Any advice? Share this post Link to post
Lotus 0 Posted May 15, 2003 *double gulp* 54 views and no responses...I am screwed hehe. I have read through the other posts, and can't find what I need. Damn I feel so numb when it comes to networking. There is so much to it! Share this post Link to post
DS3Circuit 0 Posted May 15, 2003 1. Open the ports for your VPN, if you use PPTP need to open port 1723 and configure GRE 47 .... I imagine on the Linksys models its just a check box or so through their web interface 2. Configure a VPN server. http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/technologies/communications/vpn/default.asp http://www.labmice.net/networking/VPN.htm 3. Configure the VPN client.
