Win2k Hibernate, Standby & APM (plus G400 issues)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've got a Abit BP6 and since I got that I've not had any of the above features. I've got the computer type as ACPI Multiprocessor System, and ACPI is turned on in the BIOS. I dont even have the APM tab in power management - so the computer cant even turn itself off. Even my 98 can do that!

Truthfully, I know why I cant get hibernate and standby - its the drivers for my Sigma Designs MPEG2 Decoder. If I disable that device, hibernate reappears but my Matrox G400 driver stops working and windows tells me there is a problem with my display driver and uses the default one.

What on Earth is causing that conflict? I wouldnt mind if it happened when I ENABLED the device!!

It does the same thing on a machine with a G400, Decoder and a abit BE6.

Ok..you guys cant fix the hibernate prob, but surely I cant get APM switched back on...i'm fed up of "it is now safe to turn of your computer"

Thanks a LOT!
