Lotus 0 Posted May 27, 2003 Hey gang...we have a new VPN set up between 2 offices 30 miles apart. We have cable access in both locations. We are trying to run a program on our server (location 1) from our other office (location 2). We are using 2 Symantec VPN 100's and running windows 2000 sp3 in both locations. The program is DOS based and is a database program for durable medical equipment (DME) It can take up to 10 seconds to load some things remotely compared to loading instantly at our main office. Are there any MTU settings that can be changed or anything that will improve our connection? Help is greatly appreciated! Share this post Link to post
DS3Circuit 0 Posted May 28, 2003 Besides tweaks like MTU ... you can decrease the strength of the security by thereby using less CPU to decrypt/encrypt frames or purchase NIC that do DES and 3DES on the card (intel) Generally, the speed of the VPN correlates to the size of your pipe. What is the typically bandwidth for your cable connection, and is there a difference between loading this DOS application and copying data back n forth. Share this post Link to post
