shassouneh 0 Posted June 1, 2003 Hi ALl, I have a PAL DVD (I own it), and I wish to rip it into a DivX file. The problem is this: i don't have a DVD drive. HOWEVER< I managed to copy ALL files off the DVD by borrowing a freind's DVD drive. So I will eventually need a program flexible enough to encode form VOB files on a hard drive rather than a DVD drive. So can someone kindly post a "complete idiot/beginner's" guide to ripping a DVD from a to z? Thanx. Share this post Link to post

I just happened to "trip" over the JVC unit that I got which supports just about everything. However, my Sony and most of the others I have seen will not. SVCDs are great. shassouneh 0 Posted June 2, 2003 Yeah, JVC seems to make good s*****. As for SVCDs, I have no interest in them. All I really care about is DivX files ona PC. Thanx for the link, I will check it out. Share this post Link to post

shassouneh 0 Posted June 2, 2003 Thanx for all your precious feedback everyone. Your replies have been taken into account and are much appreciated. It would be terrific if some of these utilities are available for Linux as it is my primary OS right now, but I suppose a reboot to WinXP won't hurt. Share this post Link to post
