simonroockley 0 Posted June 12, 2003 I've just had the strangest problem with IE5.5, It would not open a link in a new window and would take about 2 minutes to open a shortcut to a URL. I tried fixing it by the method described in http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=281679 to no avail. I then tried repairing, reinstalling and upgrading IE but it still did not fix it so I tried reinstalling the latest NT service pack which didn't work. I then used a program called Regmon from www.sysinternals.com and found that HKCR\Typelib\EAB22AC0-30C1-11CF-A7EB-0000C05BAE0B} was denying access to normal users and not administrators when a user tried to open a new IE window. It had incorrect permissions on the key (only administrators and the system could read it). I hope this helps someone, this has cost me 2 days of my life and multiple reboots of our Terminal Server.
