Catdog02 0 Posted June 13, 2003 Hi all. The following is a little bit long winded - sorry. Okay. I have a win2k server with a Nic bound to TCP 10.0.0.1 - 255.0.0.0. It runs FSMO, DHCP server and DNS services. It's going to have half a dozen clients attached to it. I'm using DHCP for study purposes, otherwise I would have assigned static IP's. It has PC Anywhere installed, but thats about it. This Nic is plugged into a small hub. It has a second NIC bound to TCP 192.168.0.x I say x, because I'm not sure what it needs to be for what I'm attempting. The cable is plugged into a NIC on a PC that is running Win2kPro. I'm trying to use the Pro machine as a firewall/dial up Internet connection. It has Zonealarm installed. I would have used a Linux box, but I haven't got any idea how to set it up, and I don't have time to learn. So, the crux of the question is - Can 2kpro act as the firewall on my network? how do I share the Internet connection? and what do I need to tell my clients that want Internet connections? I've never been able to get ICS working, this time it isn't much different... Any help would be much appreciated. Share this post Link to post

You can configure RRAS on your 2000 professional machine to be a pass through for the 2000 server. 3. Unbind DHCP on your 192 nic in the server, remove the default gateway on the 10 nic. Removing the gateway will force traffic out the 192 nic. 4. RRAS can pass DHCP leases or can be configured for static clients. What you are proposing has, and can be done. 5.
