Yup - apps will continue to run - in general they don't care what the FS is, they just ask the OS for data...

You speicify the root directory for FTP, so if it's C:\ then the whole drive is exposed (this is a bad thing)...

Also under NTFS, you can assign permissions (for FTP and other things) on a file and directory basis.

Oops - remember that Win9x can't read NTFS, so if you dual boot and need that partition under both - don't convert.

I've been using Ntfs98 avaliable at systeminternals.com to hack away at Windows 2000 from 98 when it is nessecary. Only problem is it can't write to ntfs volumes.

Again, Thanks YuppieScum. I am all windows 2000. I was dual booting but after staying in 2000 for a week , 98 seemed so sloooow. Now all I need is a few Win2K drivers and a new SCSI for my scanner and I will be good to go.

It was the same for me. The last time I tried to boot under 98, I crashed just before being able to do anything. but I had to cos I wanted to use my TVout feature. Just after, I quit definitively.

4 of my 5 disks are now full NTFS and I'm beginning using security rights for the differents users of my computer.

I find this system really usefull and even more powerfull than on Unix cos Unix can only make the difference betwen you, your workgroup and the rest of the world.

There, you can define rights for one user, group of users and so on. I haven't tried Win2k Server yet (workstation from september) but I will perhaps try one day, just for the fun of configuring the different users right (you CAN'T do that !)
