Lotus 0 Posted June 23, 2003 Every morning that I come in to work...our internet doesn't work. We have a cable connection...munning to a symantec vpn 100 router, then from the router into a 16 port linksys switch. If I unplug the modem for 5 - 10 seconds then rewtry, everything is fine. We run Windows 2000 Pro. Anything jumping out to you as to why this might be happening? We have a dynamic IP now but will be getting static IP's on june 25th. Will this effect our problem maybe? This is probably a simple problem for you IT techs out there =) Share this post Link to post

jmmijo 1 Posted June 23, 2003 Open a command prompt via Start/Run and type in cmd. Now use the ipconfig /release to make sure the IP is gone and then ipconfig /renew to refresh it again As for the reason your connection drops, could be the dynamic IP config and the VPN router. Is there some sort of timeout on this box that does this after an idle period perhaps ?!? Share this post Link to post
Lotus 0 Posted June 24, 2003 Release and renew was the first thing I tried. I called the company who supplies our modem and we narrowed it down to the modem or the broadband signal to the modem. We have a technician coming today to run some tests on it. Share this post Link to post
