The system im using the writer on is a PII 400, 64 Mb ram win 2k any ideas? apparenty this writer has worked on the computer before! Share this post Link to post
Nick601 0 Posted June 27, 2003 one other this i just remembered i went to the HP website and searched fpr up to date drivers for the writer and it had a windows 2000 parallel port driver?? i downloaded and installed it and as mentioned above the computer restarts itself. would it be a problem with the parallel port driver and the mother board chipset drivers???? EXARTIZO 0 Posted June 28, 2003 You might try disconnecting the RJ-45 cable from your nic card and rebooting it. Share this post Link to post
Nick601 0 Posted June 29, 2003 What would a RJ45 network card have to do with a cd writer making the computer reboot just out of interest?? i will try it but i need to get onto the network to see if it works! worth a try i guess but just dont see how the two are linked Share this post Link to post
sanlemo 0 Posted January 14, 2005 I am having same problem now.. How you solved, Nick601?? My system is P4 2 GHz, Win 2k Pro Thx Share this post Link to post
dargiejg 0 Posted February 24, 2005 Do you have Daemon Tools installed? Try uninstalling it. I've just found that this solution that worked for me. For about 9 months, everytime I plugged in a CD writer my PC (Windows 2000 Professional SP4) would recognise the device, begin installing drivers and at that point it would INSTANTLY REBOOT! This has been true for three difference cd writers, including: 1. internal IDE - hp 8200 2. external usb - (a) hp 8200, ( lacie d2 3. pcmia - amacom baby combo. My fix was to uninstall Daemon Tools, reboot (as part of uninstallation). I have just plugged in the lacie external usb cd/dvd writer and it is working just as it should. John G.
