CUViper 0 Posted June 29, 2003 Quote: Using my APK Whois, calling to whois.internic.net I get: Whois Server Version 1.3 Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net for detailed information. Domain Name: APPCOMPAT.COM Registrar: GO DADDY SOFTWARE, INC. Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com Referral URL: http://registrar.godaddy.com Name Server: PARK1.GODADDY.COM Name Server: PARK2.GODADDY.COM Status: ACTIVE Updated Date: 26-nov-2002 Creation Date: 25-nov-2001 Expiration Date: 25-nov-2003 >>> Last update of whois database: Sat, 28 Jun 2003 19:06:50 EDT <<< ... The problem is that since the internic is not the authority for this domain, it doesn't have all of the domain record in its database. So, here's a chance for you to improve your APK Whois program. The "Whois Server" line above should act as a forwarding address to your program. So in this case, your program does a query to whois.internic.net on appcompat.com, gets back a minimal record containing the line "Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com". Your program should notice this and send another query, this time to whois.godaddy.com. Being that there are many registrars that handle com, net, org, etc., this is the best way to get the full domain record. Share this post Link to post
