To answer the original question, converting over to NTFS and adding lots of memory had the biggest performance enhancement for me.

Not so much of a performance tweak, but a timesaving tweak, if you use the CLI often:

yes, that is a very handy time saver in linux and I'm glad they integrated it into windowsNT.
