Lazoth 0 Posted July 21, 2003 I am trouble with Ground Control in the briefings where the sound would sutter like a broken record is there any reason for this or is it just another XP problem? Share this post Link to post
Recharge 0 Posted July 22, 2003 I don't think it's an xp problem, last time I played GC I didn't have any problems. whats your soundcard/configuration? for peeps out here to help you, you need to give a rundown of your system specs so we can at least make a half arsed guess (australian slang) Share this post Link to post
Lazoth 0 Posted July 22, 2003 Ohh sorry I guess I should of relised that :x I have a AMD Duron 1.1 GeForce2 MX 400 128MB AC97 Samsung DVD-ROM Is that any help? (I know aussie slang, I live in Sydney) Share this post Link to post
tsonta101 0 Posted July 22, 2003 from my experience, it must be the AC97 codec. I have seen it produce echo effects and/or clicks pops in some games (Ghost Recon, Colin McRae 3). Have you got a spare soundcard or can borrow one from a mate and see if the stuttering continues? PS: I am guessing that this only happens in games and when you watch dvds, divx movies, listen to mp3 in winamp or wmp the sound is ok, right? Share this post Link to post
Recharge 0 Posted July 22, 2003 it'd be an idea just to check your mobo manufacturer's site and see if there are any newer drivers for the onboard sound and go from there check it out, if so install them and get back to us Share this post Link to post
ConQueso 0 Posted July 25, 2003 Perhaps try lowering your audio HW acceleration in DxDiag or lowering your audio options in game? To lower your audio HW acceleration, click start > run > then type in DXDIAG.EXE and hit enter. Then click the audio/sound tab and slide the acceleration bar to different settings to see if it helps. Note, this may increase compatibility but it will do so at the cost of performance. Be sure that if this does work to crank up the acceleration for other games. Share this post Link to post
