Marktait 0 Posted July 27, 2003 Ok yesterday my comp was working great, turned it on this morning to find the internet wouldnt work. So i then tryed the onboard LAN and the internet would work but i am now getting on my soundcard not enough free resources, so i turned off the onboard and put the old NIC card in and the PC will not boot with any of my 3 NIC Cards in (2 being brand new Netgear ones). So i removed them and let the PC boot without any LAN and just the soundcard, the sound card still had the same problem even though the onboard LAN was disabled .I have even tryed to put the onboard sound on and remove my audigy but the onboard sound says the same error as the Audigy. So i removed all my cards except my soundcard and reformatted my PC, still the same problems and i dont understand whats going on at all Anybody got any ideas of whats up? i tryed up[censored] the BIOS and that made it worse so i downgraded and its back to the way it was. PTS 0 Posted July 28, 2003 This is just "off the cuff", But I have read reports from other Audigy users that somehow the firmware on the Audigy screws up something on the Motherboard. Creative Labs has even confirmed this to be an issue in some cases for some people. Other than that... Lightning Strike/Power Surge? Bad Ram? This is not likely a virus issue. ConQueso 0 Posted July 28, 2003 What motherboard is it? what exactly has been changed since last it worked? Is your sound card using a pci slot that shares resources with your AGP? I suggest searching the knowledge base at http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/ and possibly unofficial forums dealing with soundblaster. Also, try finding a good forum that deals with your motherboard brand or chipset or something. I had a problem with my soundblaster after upgrading my motherboard to a nForce2 chipset. Granted I was using 5 PCI cards at the time. Lucky for me, though, I was using the soundcard just to keep use of the livedrive, which I didn't use that often. After a while, I gave up trying to get the audio and video capture card to work together, and decided to bag the SBLive for my onboard nForce2 APU. I wish you better luck and/or the same integrated audio. Share this post Link to post
Marktait 0 Posted July 28, 2003 Yes but as i said there is the exact same issue with the onboard sound, seems highly unlikely to be the Audigy with a problem if the onboard gives the same error, i can possibly try other ram and see if that makes a difference and also test the Audigy on another system Sorry forgot to say the system is the P4 in my sig with the ASUS P4S533-E motherboard Share this post Link to post
jmmijo 1 Posted July 29, 2003 When you looked at the properties for the device that didn't have enough free resources, was it indicating that there were not enough free memory I/O addresses free or IRQ's free or both ;( One thing I always do for my boxes is to disable all the onboard junk I don't need for instance I have a USB printer so I turn off the LPT port. I don't have any serial devices so I turn off those as well. This has free'd up 3 IRQ's and 3 base addresses for each. Also check the settings for the onboard sound, you can usually change things like wether you want to use the legacy midi sound or not. You can choose to turn this off as well but if you leave it on then check out the settings, the IRQ, the Base I/O address etc... Also you can just to be sure, reset the CMOS to factory by unplugging the power cord to the PS, then removing the CMOS battery then moving the clear CMOS jumper to the CLR position for a few minutes. Then reverse the process afterwards and go into the BIOS and see what the factory settings are. This will also clear the ESCD tables which could be corrupted right now and causing some of these resource issues. Share this post Link to post

Marktait 0 Posted July 29, 2003 Dont think the battery died but somebody else mentioned this to me, il reset the BIOS and see what happens, also i have disabled everything onboard apart from the LAN as i need that since it wont boot with any LAN card in. Il check this out and get back to you all :x EDIT:This is the error i get BTW This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12) If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. Share this post Link to post
jmmijo 1 Posted July 30, 2003 I've seen this before, you'll have to do what it says and/or find out what base address it wants to use and see if you can manually change it. Also note that I've only seen this occur very infrequently so it's not common and I don't remember exactly what I did other then to disable some unneeded devices via the Integrated Peripherals. In PNP/PCI Configuration, my BIOS has a "Reset Configuration Data" option which clears ESCD data. Might want to see if yours does as well.
