Mr.Guvernment 0 Posted August 27, 2003 Hey all well, i got sick of the wiring done in our house / office - the guys who did did a half arese job so i decided to redo it all, wioth CAT 6 cable - for possible future upgrades. Well. things are flying now that i have redone the network in CAT6 on the major conenctions between hubs and from a few comps - i dont know what the guys who wired this place did, but it sure as heck was CRAP!(they had cables running over our roof because they were scared to go into the ceiling..lol - i am 6'4 and fit fine and did it all!) So, does anyone have any suggestions for GB hubs, routers and even nics? Share this post Link to post
BladeRunner 0 Posted August 27, 2003 We looked into CAT6 cables when we moved offices about three months ago. As this is a rather large office area we simply couldn't afford to do it that way, so we went for CAT5e throughout which is still fine for GB networking but a hell of a lot cheaper! As for recommendations, I'll await some more replies as I'd be interested in that too Share this post Link to post
Mr.Guvernment 0 Posted August 27, 2003 i heard though that CAT5 can have issue if u runa gigabyte system adn that CAT6 is far less prone to data corruption and loss at the higher speeds. the cat 6 i got was $300 for 1000ft. it has a + of silicon that runs through the middle, sperating the colored cables - which are twisted together so is like uhave your + and top right is orange, top left is blue - twiested together (white/blue and blue) so the wires are not touching until they hit the rj45 end.
