Marc Robichaud 0 Posted January 19, 2000 Hi, just wondering if I need to reinstall Windows 2000 Pro if I just added another cpu. Running Abit BP6, just added another Celery 366 @ 550. Win2k doesnt recognise second cpu!!!! Is there a fix or patch, or am I stuck with a fresh install??????? Thanx.... Share this post Link to post
MagitekKn 0 Posted January 19, 2000 You guessed it, a reinstall is in your future, since you obviously can't use the uniprocessor HAL with a multiprocessor system, and HALs can't just be switched in and out with ease (just ask the people who try to enable ACPI by brute force) -MTK Share this post Link to post
Greggy 0 Posted January 19, 2000 Its a peice of piss! Install the 2nd CPU Boot into Windows 2000 Go to Device Manager select Computer select MPS Uniprocessor PC (or whatever you have) RH click and select Properties select Driver, click the Update Driver button click Next Choose to display a list of known drivers to choose specific click Next click Show All Hardware select MPS Multiprocessor PC Follow the prompts Reboot Done! I frequently change from 1 to 2 CPUs (366 Celerons at 550MHz) to test display driver stabilty under SMP. Share this post Link to post
