Radioactive Frog 0 Posted November 12, 2003 i have just built a new computer with a MSI KT4AV motherboard and when i turn it on it just beeps at me derrr derrr derrr derrr derrr etc! nothing powers up not even the psu ! hmmmmmmmm i know normally the beeps mean somthing but i thought that was when the puter started !! any ideas? thanks Share this post Link to post
thatsteveguy 0 Posted November 12, 2003 How many beeps? it could be bad ram or an improperly seated component like a vid card. make sure all PCI and AGP devices are properly seated (sometimes they seem to be in but need that little extra clic to get in right) and if you are using more than one stick of ram then remove one and try starting up with just the one. Radioactive Frog 0 Posted November 12, 2003 ok i will try those things, but usually things like that don't take affect until the puter starts up and as the psu don't even come on then i didn't try those ! but i will ! i have tried a different psu but no luck ! thanks RF Share this post Link to post
Tomay 0 Posted November 12, 2003 At least you know that the PC speaker works. As far as I know the mobo wouldn't beef if the psu wouldn't power up. Are you sure that the psu fan isn't spinning? Share this post Link to post
Copernicus 0 Posted November 14, 2003 Hmm, it could be the processor. It's just one thing to think about, but a system that will not spinup has a major problem. Share this post Link to post
Mr.Guvernment 0 Posted November 15, 2003 what processor? does youe mobo support the other ahrd ware you got? clear the cmos and try it again - try another power supply. if your PSU does not start up take it out and short the Green wire to any black wire - this will make it start with out the mobo - if it come son that is fine. is there a light on your mobo that goes on? Radioactive Frog 0 Posted November 16, 2003 MR.Guvernment your suggestion about shorting the green and any black to start the mobo, is this just a testing way or could it be use permantly? ie putting a switch across it so i could use the psu to power stuff ? thanks RF Share this post Link to post
Mr.Guvernment 0 Posted November 17, 2003 it is perm if u want - it is how u do a dual PSU set up in a system but u have to manually turn it on and off. Share this post Link to post
