Major League Baseball and its Economics

Recommended Posts

You know I watch TSN Sportscentre every day here in Canada, and all I hear about baseball right now is the signing of big free agents and the trading between them.

The Yankees and Red Sox are waged in 1 hell of a war of out dueling each other. Both payrolls are probably going to exceed $200 million US!

What is really funny is that they BOTH can't win the world series. But when the Marlins beat the Yankees, I was in shock. Can you buy talent? Yes, Can you win with spending big? Yes. All the time? Nope.

Now I hear the Red Sox trading for Alex Rodriguez for Manny Ramirez. $250 and $180 million each for their deals. Yankees got Kevin Brown, $15 million/year for 2 more, and he is 39. Sheffield is on his way to the Yankees too. Lets not forget Baltimore, which has $180 million in contracts offers to V. Guerrero, Tejada, Javy Lopez, and I. Rodriguez.

Yep.....
