Norton Help!!!

Recommended Posts

I have a problem with norton. I have this program called O&O defrag v6 pro 30 day trail. What is a better version of the windows defrag program. Since When I did the windows one it never got rid of the red(fragmented files) so my bro tryed this program and it got rid of his red. So I tryed it and it never got rid of any of the red. Then my bro said I should turn of my all my programs and do it since they should be all off when you use it.

(My bro has mcafee what he can shut down perfectly)

But the thing is that I can not disable Norton Like I go to end process(NProtect.exe) and try to end it and it does not end it. So I went to the Administrative Tools to serves and disabled all the norton stuff I could find + every other program I had running(like I can disable Norton itself what is on my taskbar but it keeps running). So I went back to my O&O program and all of a sudden it does not work. So I was like what the hell why is it not working. So I unistalled it thinking it I just did not install right. So I try just tried the demo version again. So I tryed it again did it all over again disabled everything and all of a sudden it does not work again I got the same error so I start enabling all my program one by one trying to see if that had to do anything with it but when I got to norton I enabled it and it worked fine.

So I need to know how to make it so Norton does not take over every program I have. So like how do I stop Norton from running so that I can defrag my computer. Since If it is running I will never be able to defrag it.

And why does it do that?. Why does it have to be running to make this program be able to run?

I even tryed to do a defrag in safe mode were everything is shut off but still then I could not run it since it need Norton.

Have you tried using norton's speeddisk? You should be able to get a demo of it from symantec.com.

First try to find a demo of norton utilities. Norton systemworks already has norton antivirus in it, and it might cause a problem with your full version antivirus prog.
