duhmez 0 Posted January 30, 2004 2000 server with 2 domaincontrollers in mixed mode. the PDC emualtor was once NT4 and was upgraded. All was well for 2 years. Now users ar getting the error at boot time "a duplicate name exists on the network" Many, many machines are doing this now. What would be causing this? Event viewer says run nbtstat -n to see the offending computer name, but this does not work. Share this post Link to post
RedStar 0 Posted February 11, 2004 hi. i only have two computers hooked to a router..and i get this message all the time on the win2000 one ...and often a forced browser election a sa seeming consequence. MS says its no big deal..so i just ignore it now. and you have to run netstat when error occurs to catch it. in my case it makes no sense since both machines DO have diff identities Share this post Link to post

dave.green1 0 Posted February 17, 2004 Maybe the GUID is duplcating? I have seen that before...and it gave me the duplicate name on the network error..... Share this post Link to post
