chopper2000 0 Posted January 16, 2000 I have tried over and over again to get dxr3 encoder working I have seen that the preferd way of doing this is with the sigma Hollywoood plus beta drivers and then installing the stander nt drivers over them. I have tried this but get the Blue screen O'death my dvd is oem i mean it is dxr3 board with the 5x drive my system is a dual pent 400 with 256 ram vellocity pci video, SB live value , encore dvd dxr3, intelpoint explorer mouse and I am running build 2195.1(free)also any help with intelipoint 3.0 software or a way to program side buttons on mouse. ANY HELP would be great. With this being my first post I would like to take the time to thank every body at this board and let you know that you are some of the most resourceful pepeol I have ever met. With out this board I may have given up W2k. GLAD I DIDN'T. ------------------ 92% of what we worry about never happens. Share this post Link to post
ThC 129 0 Posted January 16, 2000 Yah most people try using the realmagic drivers, but I havent heard of installing NT4 drivers over those. I guess Im lucky because I bought a realmagic decoder card. I think that drivers will be coming out earlier than expected because of the earlier release of Windows 2K on PCs Share this post Link to post
Skywise 0 Posted January 16, 2000 ok..here's how I did it.. install the realmagic beta drivers... then install the latest/greatest dxr3upd from creatives site (the application..not the driver). Works very nice most of the time.. I do have one dvd however that doesn't work for some reason (Iria: Zeiram), so I still have to reboot to win98se sometimes (ugh!). guess it'll be fixed in the next driver release.. chopper2000 0 Posted January 17, 2000 i have tried all ways with the hollywood plus drivers but no luck tried safe mode tried taking all other cards out even tried clean install of W2k build 2195.1 but no luck any more input would be great or does any one know if there is more than one model Dxr3 encoder. ------------------ 92% of what we worry about never happens. Andersony 0 Posted January 17, 2000 I installed the Hollywood drivers and then installed the dvdr3wup (Oct 99') from the creative site, making sure to just install the PC DVD Player. With this combo I can play files if I copy them to my hardisk, however if I attempt to play them from the 5x the sound gets f'd. Same Problem? I am assuming that its the driver for the 5x drive that is messing it up, cuz most everyone else with a different drive and the dxr3 seem to be watching movies alright. Guess I'll just wait a couple of more weeks... Share this post Link to post
Skywise 0 Posted January 18, 2000 Try turning on DMA transfer for your DVD drive...for some reason M$ decided to set DMA default to off for all removeable drives.. Share this post Link to post
chopper2000 0 Posted January 21, 2000 tried to enable dma but still all i get is the good old blue screen o' death and then my machine says the drivers are not instaled or i get a blue screen giving me a bad pool era what ever that means. i can wait for 2/17/00 ------------------ 92% of what we worry about never happens. Skywise 0 Posted January 21, 2000 If you get a message about corrupt driver pool then this is bad - _very BAD_. What it basically means is reinstall, reinstall, reinstall. When you've reinstalled (ugh) try adding one and one driver - but have a copy of the hardware profile so you can go back and try again if everything fails.. The message about DMA was mainly to Andersony as his card was working but the DVD sound was f*cked up. Share this post Link to post
Joker 0 Posted January 21, 2000 I get the same problem it has nothing to do with your dvd drive it has to do with acpi and there's no way around it, to get the driver's installed you have to go into your bios turn off plug N play and and manually set your irq for that pci device in bios (which ever irq is free) then go back into windows and the install the beta driver and it should work but you'll loose acpi so it's your choice of acpi or the drx3 board. What i am doing is waiting till either real magic or creative releases a driver till then i just disabled the device in device manager and go back into my bios and turned back on plug in play and then i had to go back into windows and manually uninstall the drivers ( read the readme file supplied with the drivers for that) and acpi works now. ------------------ Share this post Link to post
Skywise 0 Posted January 22, 2000 My opinion: Screw ACPI..what do you need it for anyway???? [This message has been edited by Skywise (edited 24 January 2000).] Share this post Link to post
chopper2000 0 Posted January 24, 2000 alrght got it to install with out blue screen but now it tells me that the device is not functioning because drivers for other device not present error message 31 if I look it say it is using memory out of range but I cant seem to change it tried to in properties but does not give option. Man I wish they would just F*CKING release some drivers allready !! will try anything once Share this post Link to post
Skywise 0 Posted January 24, 2000 hmm...here's another suggestion... Try swapping the places of your pci cards...should hopefully resolve any potential resource conflicts Share this post Link to post
Andersony 0 Posted January 25, 2000 Thanks Skywise... That did the trick, but I'm with you, I'm waiting for the release of Creative drivers and sticking with ACPI for now. I tried your suggestion on a test system (nice to have when you not sure if its just your machine) and it cured the problem. Share this post Link to post
