Streak 0 Posted January 1, 2000 I have an Abit BP6 motherboard and am using an IBM ATA66 27GB hard drive on the HPT366 controller. I recently downloaded the Win2k drivers for the HPT366 controller and used them to install Win2k. I am also using the latest PW Bios for the BP6 and version 1.21 of the hpt366 Bios. Everything seems to run fine except that the event viewer is full of the following "warnings". 1. Source: "HTP3661" Description: The driver has detected that device \Device\Scsi\hpt366 has old or out of date firmware. Reduced performance may result. 2. Source: "Disk" Description: An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 during a paging operation. Is it safe to use the NT4 HPT366 drivers under Win2K? Win2K is build 2195. Can anyone help me out with this problem? Thanx in advance. Share this post Link to post
Seldzar 0 Posted January 1, 2000 WHy would you use nt4 drivers when you have official win2k drivers? The first problem you mentioned can be fixed by up[censored] your bios for the ata66 controller and the second is either due to the first error or simply there is an error on your drive. Streak 0 Posted January 1, 2000 I have the latest BIOS and the latest drivers for the HPT366 controller. Bios version 1.21 and driver version 1.22. I was using them prior to your last post Seldzar. Also, the drive is fine under Win98SE and NT4. There are no such errors reported under NT4. The reason why I asked whether it is possible to use the NT4 drivers is that maybe they work under Win2k and maybe the Win2k drivers are buggy. I don't know, just trying out options. I didn't want to just install the NT4 drivers in case they totally screwed everything up and left me with an inaccesible boot driver for Win2k. Anyway, thanks for the effort Seldzar. Can anyone shed some light on this subject? Share this post Link to post
k4 0 Posted January 15, 2000 hi Streak, i have almost the same config as you do, i have bp6 with BIO 1.21, HPT366 1.22 for W2k. I need some help from you.. Is it true that W2K Pro(final OEM release) will NOT boot from ATA66 drive? Here's my config Quantum KX ATA66 5.4G IBM Deskstar ATA66 13G When I install W2k, I loaded HPT366 drivers twice as required. Installation went fine, but after it finished installing and reboots, it complaints about "Cannot detect boot disk ©". HOw do I boot W2K from my ATA66 drive? Do I really have to make the boot drive ATA33? I asked you these cuz' seems like you were able to boot from your ATA66 drive.. Thanks! Share this post Link to post
YuppieScum 0 Posted January 15, 2000 The quick solution is to put the drive on the ATA/33 bus, install W2K, install the ATA/66 drivers, then move the drive back onto the ATA/66 bus... Share this post Link to post

andyw 0 Posted January 28, 2000 I installed w2k on udma33-controller on my 15gb ibm drive and it works with w2k on udma66... but now this: PROBLEM: I have the latest BIOS version and w2k drivers installed, but when using my IBM harddisk and my Maxtor disk together on the hpt366-controller (both udma mode 4) w2k hangs itself up upon starting... SOLUTION (?): When using another harddrive from IBM instead of the one from Maxtor it worked!!! Is the controller not capable of handling drives from different manufacturers or is there anything against Maxtor? Share this post Link to post
