Which wireless card is good for Fedora Core 1?

Recommended Posts

Hi, All,

I have a Syntax USB-400 wireless card, it does not work for Frdora core 1. Can somebody help me with this? Thanks a lot.

Another thing, can somebody tell me which wireless card works for Fedora core 1, then I can go to CompUSA or bestBuy to buy one? Thanks,

Ming

Did you look at the RedHat/Fedora compatibility database on their site?

If possible, stay away from USB..it's still a problem.

Do you have a router, or straight connect to the cable modem?

It just so happens I'm in the same fix. I decided not to wait, and ran out to Radio Shack and purchased a Linksys WMP11 wireless PCI. The guy at the store said I could bring it back if I couldn't get it to work. Linux-Wlan says the WMP11 uses Prism 2, but the later "versions" of this card don't and won't work. There's nothing on the box that says it's any of the versions so I hope things will come together when I install it tomorrow. If you can wait, I'll let you know how I come out, then you might want to consider getting one too if I can slay this beast! wink

Edit: Just found out the #$%^ing thing is a WMP11 (version 2.7) which uses the broadcom chips! You can't see that it's a 2.7 until you open the box! %&*@!

So I'll take it back tomorrow..

Same here. Just installed a Dlink DWL-G650 in my Thinkpad. Found madwifi .deb drivers and will give it a go in Lindows Laptop Edition. If you get it going, let me know!

Hey y'all! Check this out!

Linux-Wlan says it uses prism2, and I don't see there are newer "versions" to muck you up with broadcom chipsets without letting you know.

At this price, I'm ordering mine right now before they run out!
