SoulNothing 0 Posted May 1, 2004 i was just curious to other users response to mandrake 10 ce i really enjoy it but there are some odd things -low stability constantly freezes on me -can only get sound in gnome -slow internet in gnome -can only get updates in kde -openoffice freezes in gnome -icewm windowmaker and the other desktops are more instable than windows (yes one time it just quit on me and the pc locked and was inable to shut down) -cd player wont read sound at all these are the negatives now for positives -fast boot time -vast range of apllications -good help -easy to use -ease of learning -clean neat desktop -low background apps -great security ?how many of you have had trouble installing? this is more to get others opinion on mandrake 10 ce like a list that i gave not a full fledged review thanks for the responses Share this post Link to post

Art_Oliver 0 Posted August 19, 2004 Recently upgrade from 9.1 to 10.0 CE because I want support for a TV Card ... I'm very unhappy with the upgrade, I pass from a stable working system to a "buggy" one, here first approach problems: - X crash using the XF86Config-4 generated by XFDrake. Solved using old XF86Config file ... but still having problems with ATI 9200 Radeon (fglrx) driver ... - During boot system always ask to boot in graphical, text, or debbuging mode. Don't understand why ...choosing graphical will now boot correctly in X ... - HSF Modem driver stop working. Must pay for a new driver with no speed restrictions (Linuxant). So system is Internet blinded (terrific ...). - Sound driver (nvaudio) stop working (OSS). No sound at all I will try ALSA service ... - Finding Files in KDE doesn't work. Application stop responding anytime you want search ... - Fonts in KDE are blurred... try to solve in KDE Control Center ... That's all for now!!! In the meanwhile to post this message and to working I use other OS ... Artur Oliveira Lisbon Portugal Share this post Link to post
