Might and Magic VII Help with Compatibility tool please

I downloaded th ewindows xp compatability tool to help get Might and Magic VII up and running but not sure what to do afte rI download it an dinstall it. The game exe will not open still was wondering if I needed another step to get it working or if simply unpackaging it was enough. Any help is appreciated
