XianDrinker 0 Posted May 21, 2004 I would appreciate any help or input regarding this problem. first of all i dont know if this is software of hardware, so please excuse me if i have the wrong section? O.K i started with a Gforce2MX 400. (everything worked perfectly) I took it out and put in a Gforce 5200 FX 256MB, the card seemed to be working fine, but i immeditly wanted to play a games to test it , all the games i have tried all lock up and i get the blue screen of death telling me that NV4_DISP caused and error. I then restrated in safe mode and unistalled the driver and updated with the latest NVIDIA driver. i restarted and the games still wont work. However it is now freezing in the windows enviroment, i dont do anything serious, and i have also checked task manager to see the cpu load, but nothing is over 10% First system test; Soltek MB with VIA KT333 FSB running at 266 Athlon 2400 XP Overclocked to 2700 (2.2GHZ) (well cooled) CDROM, DVD, DVDRW, 2X HD's + Raid Card 400Watt Power Supply, 512MB DDR PC2100 Sound Blaster 128PCI Onboard sound (disabled) TV Capture card, (ALL DEVS ARE PCI EXCEPT GFORCE WHICH IS AGP) yes its heavy! but well cooled! i thought the capture card might be causing IRQ errors so i took it out, i also thought that the bios settings me be causing issues so i tried changing the AGP Speed to 1x 2x 4x<--max) also tried changing the apature size to 128 - 256 to suit the memory on board. i have also done 5 million things but i cant remember them all! hehehe, i have also tried older nvidia drivers but the fx 5200 only works from about 4.1 i think? also tried the orignal cdrom driver, and also installed the mother board via 4 in 1 driver. my current attemp at the minute is a driver i found on google called URENDER_4532, dont know if it will work, will keep posted. my other alternative is a format, but if windows xp will keep anoying me then its back to me or 98,, anyway that is the last of my wish's! as mentioned above, i would appreciate any help! on thy knees and crying like a baby! p.s i have also put the cpu back to 2400) Share this post Link to post
