Mel 0 Posted June 9, 2004 Anybody had this happen? I insalled FC2 on hdb which is an old 10gig HD.The install went fine and everything looked good 'til I tried to boot the other OS. Only problem, when it formatted hdb,it also formatted the first 10 gigs on hda.Well, that other OS, on hda, didn't like that much so I had to reinstall it. Does anyone have even a vague idea what may have caused that ? Share this post Link to post
danleff 0 Posted June 9, 2004 This has been reported and is a known issue in the releases of fedora with the 2.6 series kernel. I do not know the details, but it seems to be a problem with kernel 2.6 and parted and apparently occurs when using Fedora's partitioning utility during the install. I have been able to install Fedora by using the upgrade method, without incident. I would guess that you should pre-format the partitions with a partitioning utility (not the partitioning utility in Fedora during the install) and then try the install, using your fresh partition. Mel, did you use the Fedora partitioning utility during the install? P.S. See the story; http://news.com.com/Red+Hat+Linux+upgrad...d&subj=news Share this post Link to post
Mel 0 Posted June 9, 2004 Thanks ,Danleff That's exactly what I did.I set it to delete existing Linux partitions on hdb and do an auto format.I thought I was taking the lazy way. FC2 should still be ok on hdb.Going to try the rescue disk tonight and see if it will install the bootloader without messing with the other OS. Share this post Link to post
