at0m 0 Posted July 1, 2004 Is Abit AN7 compatible with RH/MDK? Is SATA compatible, I heard it is supported in Kernel 2.6.x. Share this post Link to post
danleff 0 Posted July 2, 2004 From what I have gathered ( I do not personally have one of these boards or SATA), if you have set up SATA in Windows already, there are issues. If this will be a straight Linux system, then some have reported some luck. If you do a search on google and on this forum, you will get some answers. For example, here. Do a search on linux AN7, or Mandrake 10 sata and look at what others have done and their experiences. Share this post Link to post
Tokes 0 Posted July 31, 2004 I've been asking something similar here: http://www.linuxcompatible.org/thread28020-1.html And have decided to opt for an ATA drive for the Linux install. Share this post Link to post
danleff 0 Posted July 31, 2004 Found another interesting link here. So, if you expect to use the system as Linux only, there should not be a problem. However, as most people do, you already have raid set up in Windows, I would expect some issues. Remember, sata=hardware raid= generally software. So, if you have 2 drives in a raid array, this is the issue. If you are using just one sata drive alone and want to format it for Mandrake, it should work. However, I would opt for the plain ide drive for Linux as well, until full compatability is achieved. Share this post Link to post
