Mechwarrior 3 in xp

Mechwarrior 3 wont run in xp, anyone know how to force it to? It says its wont run under this version of windows. Please help me out guys, im about to microwave my cd from frustration, and I think my girlfriend would be mad at me if I did that

Ok, here's what worked for me.

Go to the folder where you installed Mechwarrior, right click on Mech3.exe, click propreties, compatibility, and under compatibility mode check windows 98.

 

After that everything just work as usual
