PC Speaker Talk

Recommended Posts

Need some opinions on this:

I have always debated whether or not 4.1 or 5.1. or 6.1 and even 7.1 speakers are worth setting up or not. My desktop space is limited and my current 4.1 setup is awful, its the Altec Lansing ACS54 4.1 setup with a measly 40 watts, 20 for the subwoofer and 5 for each satellite.

I just recently got a Sound Blaster Audigy 2, which can support 6.1 audio, but my current 4 speaker setup is limited as is my desk space, I have all 4 speakers set up in front of me, which makes rear sound pretty useless, I have been thinking of buying a powerful 2.1 setup with high wattage, ie. 140 watts or so...what do you guys think on this?

Yeah I guess its in the wrong forum...but yeah I do like music and audio and consider myself an enthusiast, but I have no space to setup a good 5.1 system or something, I can't put speakers behind me which makes the point of 5.1 useless, my current 4.1 setup looks like this:

Rear>>>>Front>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Front>>>>>Rear

Left>>>>Left>>>>>>>>>>Monitor>>>>>>>Right>>>>>Right

Its completely awful but I got no room behind me since I have a bed there, and I want something with high watts so I can every small detail. I hooked my PC up to my Sharp Mini System that has 100 watt speakers and man did it ever sound sweet, but to move the system is too much of a hassle and they aren't shieled either so the monitor was looking funny. Lol.
