ada6 0 Posted July 31, 2004 I cannot get my gravis gamepad pro usb to work with xp pro. I know it's probably not compatible since it's a couple years old and because it is plug n play, xp won't recognize it. There has got to be a driver that will make this work..I've searched everywhere and can't find one that will support the gamepad pro usb. all of gravis' updates only include gamepad pro gameport. Some one help me, is there a way to make it work?? I'm to cheap to buy another stick. oh and I can't download windows update either, not sure if that would help Share this post Link to post
Christianb 8 Posted July 31, 2004 Hi Did, You try getting XP to support is a general HID Compliant device? Did you try using Windows 2000 drivers? Cheers, Christian Blackburn Share this post Link to post
ada6 0 Posted July 31, 2004 I've been trying to find a driver for gamepad pro usb but can't. Gravis doesn't offer one, maybe because it's plug n play. At one point a found a list of files that windows 98se needed to recognize the pnp device so I downloaded all of them..still nothing. If anyone knows where I can find any driver for eliminator gravis gamepad pro usb for any version of windows, please let me know. thanks for the reply Share this post Link to post
Andicioz 0 Posted August 1, 2004 Dear ada, This might help. Try downloading the latest DirectX drivers ( i think its around version 9?) And try downloading the Xperience software, it says it supports Gamepad Pro. http://ftp.gravis.com/public/pcstick/gravisxperience/Xp4.5_FTP.exe Greetz Andicioz Share this post Link to post
ada6 0 Posted August 1, 2004 I have the lates directx drivers and gravis' software only has drivers for gamepad pro (gameport). I think I just need a driver specifically for a gamepad pro usb if anyone knows where to find one. Thanks Share this post Link to post
angrymonkey 0 Posted August 1, 2004 theres more than likely something wrong with the usb port youre plugging it into or something wrong with the gamepad itself. i still use mine on a daily basis to play roms and never had a problem with xp detecting it or installing drivers on its own. ada6 0 Posted August 2, 2004 angrymonkey, how old is your gamepad?? mines a little bit older, the packaging actually says for windows 95 and 98. I don't have any problems with my ports I really do think it's just a compatibility issue. It's not the gamepad itself because it worked fine recently on windows 98se. Maybe I do just need to get a new gamepad but there has got to be a driver somewhere that I can manually install to make it work, so if anyone know, please let me know thanks Share this post Link to post
Andicioz 0 Posted August 2, 2004 Ada, if you insert your driver cd/floppy, what happens? Thy this: Go to your cd/floppy dir (where you inserted the driver cd/floppy) and see if there is any installation .exe file. if there is some like setup.exe or install.exe or the file you think the setup runs from, right click it, and click on properties, then click on the Compatibility tab, and run it in compatibitily for Windows 98/95 or the version that the cd is designed for. Checkitout Andicioz I checked this ActiveX thing out and it's telling me 47% of my drivers are installed wrong. i cheched all the devices they mention that has a problem, and i have the latest version installed and wroking properly. Sure it did detect the hardware i have listed in device manager (!) but i think what they say is just a smart marketing plan. I hope that activeX thing didn't come with a spyware or something. :x Share this post Link to post
ada6 0 Posted August 5, 2004 thanks everyone for the help ok so here's the problem. I have now found the installation cd that came with the gamepad. so I install it but it still won't recognize the gamepad pro usb. When I click on the gravis xperience control panel, it says that it can't access the gravis xperience driver either because the driver hasn't been placed in the active game controllers list, or the software is not fully installed. The software is installed, and the computer was restarted. Now I have downloaded gravis xperience before, and usually it adds the controllers to the game controllers list, but not here. In the setup from the cd, it directs you to click on the type of controller you are setting up, yet it doesn't get added to the controllers list in the control panel. I have followed all the directions in the 'read me' file and can't hack this one. I disabled Norton during installation just to make sure, I can't figure this out. I have tried to manually install the driver but that doesn't work either. It's not a problem with the hardware so what is it? In the program menu under the gravis xperience control panel it says stinger starter applet. Stinger is one of the controllers on the list during installation, should that be there? The previos version of xperience software I had downloaded was all uninstalled before the cd was installed. Does anyone know what might be happening?? Share this post Link to post
