mercury 0 Posted August 18, 2004 Hi, I have a P4 2.4 GHz and Intel 865 GBF chipset machine. Not impressed by the quality of the video's(VCD's) and games, i bought a Geforce FX 5200 card. The Game quality of the card is good with almost all the games like Maxpayne2, quake3, HalfLife2 etc.. But as far quality of video playing is concerned i do not find it much different compared to my earlier onboard video. I find the quality is quite bad. I have used VCD(.dat)/MPEG/AVI, was using wmplayer/jetplayer. Will that be like that only, or shall i have to do any tweak to get a better video/image playing quality. Share this post Link to post
Sampson 0 Posted August 18, 2004 The FX 5200 is a competent card though not really renowned for its game play. As to the quality of the mpeg images, much of this is dependent upon how it was shot. Make sure that the color quality is set to 32bit - that you use a higher resolution - and that you use the highest refresh rate for your monitor. All of this is accessed by right clicking on the Desktop and choosing Properties and selecting the tab Settings. Share this post Link to post
tsonta101 0 Posted August 19, 2004 sampson is right. most of today's (and yesterday's) graphics cards will happily play videos in every imaginable format. so the problem must lie in the quality of the video. try watching a dvd for example, which should have 100% crisp picture. vcd's (especially 1 movie in 1 dics) aren't known for their quality when compared to a dvd movie...
