DTW 0 Posted August 29, 2004 Hi guys, I have a Radeon 9800 All In Wonder. I installed games like Call of Duty and Doom 3 on to my computer. When I start the game, it lets me into it, but when I select "Start New Game", a separate window would come up asking what level of difficulty I want the game to be. Thats the problem... when I try to click on any one, no response! It just goes back to the main menu. The only thing I can do is cancel, and then.... quit. I went to ATI's site and the advice there was to install the updated device driver: wxp-w2k-wme-catalyst-aiw-ogl-7-95-031028m-011775c.exe I did that but it did not solve my problem. I was wondering if any of you guys can help! I am getting desperate Computer specs: Pentium IV 3.2Ghz, 1Gb Ram, Audigy Sound card Video: ATI Radeon 9800 All-In-Wonder Pro Daniel Share this post Link to post
ScinteX 0 Posted August 29, 2004 Just a thought but maybe try: Installing DirectX 9.0C (click 'Download' on the right hand side of the page that opens) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...;DisplayLang=en That ATI patch you applied is quite old since it uses Catalyst 3.9 drivers. Currently we are on 4.8, with 4.9 Beta being available due to 4.8 drivers being a bit slow with Doom 3. ATI 4.8 drivers are here (release notes say that these drivers support all AIW variants) Click 'Download' that is on the 'High Speed (Cable / DSL)' row: http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/winxp...&submit.y=9 If you want to run 4.9Beta (ive had no problems yet) then they are available here (click the link towards the top of the page when it opens): http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4547.html That should sort you out Share this post Link to post
DTW 0 Posted August 30, 2004 Hi ScinteX, Thanks for that.. Now I tried to do that, like this: 1) Installed DirectX 9.0C Tried to start the game.. tried to select skill level Greenhorn or anything else.. could highlight it, but as soon as I click, it bought me back to the main menu again without starting the game. 2) Installed ATI 4.8 drivers Tried to start the game.. same thing. I used Sisoft Sandra to check out my video system info, and I got this info. It looks ok, some crosses in it, but not fully understanding it, I hope if you or anyone else can help me at this stage? DTW 0 Posted August 31, 2004 My friend has a computer and his Call of Duty works. The thing I noticed that is different is that when he clicks on "Start Game", the window that comes up asking for skill level (Greenhorn, Expert, etc) has a green border around it. Mine doesn't! I wonder whether that offers any clue as to my predicament :-( Share this post Link to post
