Win XP, BC133KT freeze-up problem

Lads:

 

I have recently become the next person in line to inherit the problem of a machine which freezes up about every 20 minutes, and requires a total restart to regain function.

 

AMD 750

Via KT-133 chipset

BCM133KT MB

Prophet MX 32 video card

Win Xp Pro SP1

 

all requisite drivers, flashes, etc.

 

I am reasonably told that this is a power management issue but I simply don't know where to start the problem solving process. Any advice on where to start would be greatly appreciated.
