STOP 7F Error

Recommended Posts

So, on a Win 2K Pro config, the client is getting the above listed BSOD. Here's what I found on Microsoft's website. Has anybody come across this one before and can the BIOS and/or CPU be the cause like what is described on the web page ?!?

I just repaired this client's work startion and all was working fine and since we use the pre-install CD's I ran the sysprep to factory seal the machine. I asked the client and they indeed had to type in their OEM cd key and after clicking next/ok the screen went black and the machine restarted.

I had the client go into safe mode and uncheck the auto-reboot box and this is the BSOD they get.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks smile

The problem is that this machine ran fine at the shop, in fact what I do is run 3D Mark 2001-SE in looping mode over night and then reboot the machine and do a final check.

Everything was just fine, I even checked the CPU temp in the BIOS after rebooting and gave the all important touch test to the cpu heatsink as this tells me right away if something is amiss with the CPU wink

The issue here is that the machine is running an old P4-1.7a which runs at only 400MHz FSB. This is a basic workstation for the client along with a 40GB WD.

I will look into the BIOS update after checking with Aopen America about this issue. You would think this problem would have shown up when I did the fresh OS install and device drivers, especially since you have to reboot so often wink
