Problem Accessing Google.com

We have various computers running NT4 (PRo and Server), W2K(pro and Adv Sever), XP (pro) and 2003 Appliance Server all using IE6

 

whenever we go to www.google.com we get the download box appearing asking us to open or save a file.

 

the contents start with the following lines

We can get to google.co.uk or to google.com/images and then go to the search page.

 

We have firewall protection and completely up to date Mc.Affee anti virus protection on all Servers and Workstations

 

anyone else having similar problems

Go to a file called Hosts. It is usually located in \Windows\System32\Drivers\etc. It is a text file. You can edit the text. Unless you have gone in there and set up a lot of values, it will normally read:

 

127.0.0.1 localhost

 

You can cut and paste what you find there to a regular text file, but you should reset it to that value alone to start with.
