tidweb 0 Posted September 6, 2004 Hi! I write from italy and i hope my messagge is understandable. I have a windows 2000 server in a network. The server has two nic with ip address in the same subnet: 1 nic) 10.0.0.1 255.0.0.0 10.0.0.2 gateway 2 nic) 10.0.0.5 255.0.0.0 Both nic connect to a switch and the switch connects to a router adsl. I hoped that both nic will function but it function only one. See the route print in this page html. http://sitofree.com/tidweb/5.txt How can i do for make them to work together? (or what can I do for getting to work together? ) Thank you and i hope that help me Ciao Share this post Link to post
peterh 1 Posted September 12, 2004 The ONLY reason to use two network cards is to do routing, otherwise its not much use. In this case it is not routing but duplicating what the other card is doing, and there is not reason to be using it. I suggest removing the second card altogether. Share this post Link to post
tidweb 0 Posted September 13, 2004 Ok you are right! But i would like to understand because there is not reason to be using it! You understand me, please. I think the problem is in the software ip of windows 2000 that doesn't support two contemporary nics in the same subnet. You think this, too. Ciao Share this post Link to post

Spanning tree should disable one of your ports on the switch to avoid routing loops. Share this post Link to post
